Job Description

About the Role:

We are looking for a senior UI / UX Designer acting as a full-time subcontractor to provide design services in close collaboration with our internal team. Our product is a cybersecurity SaaS platform that helps manufacturers and security teams certify IoT and connected devices against international regulatory standards. It is built around three components: a React/TypeScript frontend, a TypeScript client library, and a Node.js/PostgreSQL backend, with AI-assisted features that guide users through compliance workflows.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end design of the product experience: from user research and information architecture through to production-ready interfaces. Our users are security engineers, compliance managers, and product developers working through dense regulatory requirements; your designs need to respect their expertise while making complex workflows navigable and efficient. You will collaborate closely with the Full Stack Engineer to ensure faithful implementation, with the Cybersecurity Standards Engineer to accurately represent compliance logic in the UI, and with the Software Test Engineer to validate that interfaces behave as intended.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead UX research, user interviews, and usability testing to understand the needs of technical and compliance-focused users.

  • Design user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for new and existing product features.

  • Translate complex cybersecurity compliance workflows and data-heavy interfaces into clear, accessible, and efficient UI patterns.

  • Define and maintain a consistent design system and component library that maps directly to the React frontend implementation.

  • Work closely with the Full Stack Engineer throughout implementation to ensure accurate, production-ready delivery of designs.

  • Design interfaces for AI-assisted features, making model outputs, suggestions, and confidence levels legible and trustworthy to end users.

  • Collaborate with the Cybersecurity Standards Engineer to ensure that compliance requirements, certification flows, and rule-based logic are represented correctly and intuitively in the UI.

  • Contribute to accessibility standards and ensure the product meets WCAG guidelines.

  • Iterate based on user feedback, analytics, and input from the broader team.

Preferred Experience

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of UI/UX design experience for web-based SaaS products; 10+ years is strongly preferred.

  • Strong proficiency in Figma or an equivalent modern design tool, including the ability to create reusable components, design systems, and developer-ready specifications.

  • Proven experience designing complex, data-rich interfaces, including dashboards, multi-step workflows, structured data tables, detail views, forms, and role-based user journeys.

  • Ability to produce both low-fidelity exploratory flows and polished, developer-ready component specifications, with prior experience documenting design decisions for engineering teams considered a strong plus.

  • Working knowledge of how React component-based frontends are structured, enabling effective and practical collaboration with engineers.

  • Strong visual design sensibility with a command of typography, layout, spacing, and hierarchy, accessibility, and responsive design principles.

  • Experience conducting user research and translating findings into concrete design decisions, preferably in B2B SaaS, technical products, cybersecurity, compliance, certification, or other complex professional environments.

Soft Skills:

  • Able to make complex information easier to understand without reducing its technical depth or relevance.

  • Comfortable creating clear design artefacts even when requirements are ambiguous or still evolving.

  • Able to work effectively with engineers, domain experts, and product stakeholders.

  • Able to explain and defend design decisions clearly while remaining open to feedback and iteration.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, compliance, certification, regulatory workflows, or other technically complex domains is highly appreciated.

  • Fluent in English; French or German would be an advantage.
